We are all here because we love our cats to the end of the world and back.
Please understand that there are lots of ways of dealing with cats and what works for one person and their cat might not work for you and your cat.
No questions are stupid :) Everyone has much to learn still

I have some great news ;-)
Remember the West Morland Gazette ran a story in early Dec about Copeland council not scanning? Well, statements from the council were followed up & it resulted in the reservations being a result of resource obstacles. All rise for West Cumbria Cats Protection ( https://www.facebook.com/WestCumbriaCatsProtection/ ) who very kindly wanted to offer the donation of scanners. The offer has been accepted and very soon should begin being rolled out and each of the 6 street cleaning teams will be equipped. Well done to all in Copeland who signed & initially got the councils attention & a HUGE thank you to Malcolm, Frances & the team at the West Cumbria branch for ultimately making it happen ;-) 2 districts did not scan at the start of this petition - now ALL councils in the Cumbria County do scan cats!

According to Carlisle City Council, they do scan deceased cats for microchips.

Deceased or missing cats

If you find a deceased cat or your cat is missing, please call 01228 817200 or email customer.services@carlisle.gov.uk and provide us with a brief description of the cat, including the location lost or found. We keep a record of all deceased cats found and we have put new procedures in place for scaning all deceased cats that we find, so if your cat has been microchipped we will be able to return it to you.
If you contact the council and are told any different, please make a note of the person you spoke to or who replied to your email and let us know so that this can be chased up.
